Deck Caddie DJ vs Qoovio: planning a set vs choosing the next track
Both work alongside Serato DJ Pro and rekordbox and use your own library. Qoovio ranks it by BPM, key and energy and can plan a whole set; Deck Caddie DJ answers “what do I play next?” from what you actually played after what, offline, and never writes to your library.
Side by side
| Deck Caddie DJ | Qoovio | |
|---|---|---|
| What it is | A next-track copilot that learns from your own library and from what you really played after what | A companion that ranks tracks from your own library by BPM, key and energy, and builds planned set routes |
| What it learns from | Your past gigs (proven transitions), plus key, tempo, crates and how long a song has rested | BPM, key (Camelot), energy and crate/playlist fit; whether it uses your play history is not stated |
| Set planning | Not yet — it suggests the next track live | Yes — choose an opener, must-play tracks and an end track; it builds an editable route you can export as a Serato crate or a rekordbox-ready playlist file |
| Loading a suggestion | Drag it onto a deck — no special permission | Buttons “1” and “2” send it to a deck (on Mac this needs Accessibility permission) |
| Your library | Strictly read-only: it never writes to your library, crates or History | Its Set Planning exports a Serato crate or a rekordbox playlist file |
| What leaves your computer | Version, machine ID, licence e-mail (plus an optional reminder e-mail you type yourself) and a few counts. Never your library or history | Name, e-mail, order and licence details, device ID, OS, app version and which DJ software connected; it says it does not collect track names, files, playlists or library paths for the connection check |
| Price | $39 once (two Macs) or $6.99/month; 3 gigs free | 7-day free trial; one-time £29 Solo or £49 Pro (shown as sale prices), or £4 for one month / £10 for three |
| Computers | macOS | Windows 10/11 and macOS (Apple silicon) |
| DJ software | Serato DJ Pro, rekordbox 7 | Serato DJ Pro, rekordbox |
Qoovio’s column quotes its own pages (home, pricing, FAQ and privacy notice dated 1 October 2026), read on 29 October 2026; where they say nothing we say so. We have not tested Qoovio ourselves. Who should pick which
Pick Qoovio if you plan your sets in advance, want an energy score and a Camelot view, use Windows, or want to start with a 7-day trial or a one-month licence.
Pick Deck Caddie DJ if you play Serato or rekordbox on a Mac and want the next track to come from your own history — the songs you really played after each other, including your edits — working offline, dragging onto a deck with no extra permission, and never touching your library.
Questions
Does Deck Caddie plan a whole set like Qoovio?
No. Deck Caddie answers one question — what to play next, right now — from your own past gigs. Qoovio’s pages describe a Set Planning feature that builds a route from an opener to an end track and exports it. If planning sets in advance is your main job, that is a real strength of theirs.
What is the difference in where the suggestions come from?
Qoovio’s pages describe ranking by BPM, key, energy and crate fit. Deck Caddie also uses key and tempo, but its main signal is what you actually played after what in your own gigs, plus how long each song has rested. Qoovio’s pages do not say whether it uses your play history.
Which one changes my library?
Deck Caddie never writes to your library, crates or History; it only reads. Qoovio’s Set Planning exports a Serato crate or a rekordbox-ready playlist file.
What does each cost?
Deck Caddie is $39 once for two Macs (or $6.99 a month) with 3 free gigs. Qoovio shows a 7-day trial and one-time licences of £29 (Solo) or £49 (Pro, two computers), both shown as sale prices, plus £4 for a month or £10 for three.
Which one runs on Windows?
Qoovio lists Windows 10/11 and macOS (Apple silicon). Deck Caddie is macOS only.
Try it on your own library for three full gigs — no card, no account. It learns from your first night and gets sharper on the second.
