rekordbox copilot · beta

The rekordbox copilot that flies on your library — not the crowd.

If you’re looking for a rekordbox copilot — a panel that sits over rekordbox and tells you what to play next — Deck Caddie now does that, in beta, on Mac. It rests on a simple idea: the best next record is almost always one you already own. It follows your deck live and hands you that record from your playlists, History and ratings, to drag straight onto a deck. Offline, with your library and history never uploaded.

What a rekordbox copilot should do on the night

Follows the deck live
It reads rekordbox's History as you play — no typing, no tagging. The moment you start a track, the panel updates.
Hands you the next track — that you own
Every suggestion is a record already in your rekordbox library, ready to play. Never a track you'd have to go buy.
Uses what you already keep in rekordbox
Your playlists and folders, your History as gigs, your star ratings as “great” marks, rekordbox's keys and BPMs.
Explains itself
“Played after this 14× · key 7A · rested 8 months.” Real reasons from your own history, not a mystery score.
Keeps you fresh
It reserves picks for great records you own but never reach for — drag the Proven ⟷ Fresh slider to taste.
Works when the Wi-Fi doesn't
Fully offline during a gig, with only a brief check at launch (app version, machine ID, licence e-mail). Your library and play history never leave your Mac.

Setting it up in rekordbox

One rekordbox setting
Preferences ▸ Advanced ▸ Browse ▸ “Playback time setting” → 1 second. The default (60 seconds) means rekordbox only logs a track a full minute after it starts, which is too late for a copilot.
Let rekordbox analyse your tracks
Keys and BPM come from rekordbox's own analysis. Tracks it hasn't analysed yet can't be matched by key or tempo, and rekordbox only records analysed tracks in its History.
Read-only
Deck Caddie only reads your library — it never writes to it, never loads a deck on its own, and never plays or mixes for you.

“AI copilot” — trained on you, not on everyone

Most DJ copilots you’ll find are crowd-trained: they suggest what thousands of other DJs played, blended into an average. That’s good for discovery, but on a real dancefloor it pushes every DJ toward the same records. Deck Caddie never touches the crowd. Its model is your proven track-to-track transitions, so your set still sounds like you. Here’s the fuller comparison: Deck Caddie vs. a crowd copilot.

What works today, honestly

The rekordbox version is a beta for rekordbox 7 on macOS. It follows rekordbox running on your Mac; it doesn’t read CDJ/XDJ USB exports, and there’s no Windows version yet. If you also play Serato, it’s the same app — see the Serato copilot page.

rekordbox copilot FAQ

Which rekordbox versions does it work with?
rekordbox 7 on macOS. It is tested on 7.2; rekordbox 6 hasn't been tested yet, so it isn't promised.
Is the rekordbox version finished?
It's a beta. The suggestions, the live deck-following, drag-to-deck, and the learn-from-your-history engine are the same as the Serato version, but it's newer and has seen fewer libraries. Tell us what breaks: info@deckcaddie.com.
Does it work with CDJs, USB export or Pro DJ Link?
Not yet. The beta follows rekordbox running on your Mac. If you play from a USB stick in EXPORT mode on standalone players, the History stays on the stick, not in rekordbox on your Mac.
Does it change my rekordbox library?
No. It only reads, one way. It never writes to your library.
Do I need to switch from Serato?
No — it's the same app. In setup you pick Serato DJ Pro or rekordbox, and you can switch later.
